Claire Elise Boucher,/bu:'SeI/boo-SHAY,[1] was born on March 17, 1988. She's known as Grimes. There are many styles of her first music has been called "lo the fi R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". She has also used elements from hip-hop electronic, rock and hip hop. Her songs frequently touch on gender issues and science fiction. The singer has recorded five albums. Born and raised in Vancouver (later shifting to Montreal), Grimes began making music for herself at the end of the 2000s and released two albums, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa, in 2010 through Arbutus Records. In 2012, Visions is her 3rd studio release. She signed with 4AD. Visions is comprised of the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" that was nominated for an award called the Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. The fourth album of her studio Art Angels was released in 2015. It received high praise by critics and a variety of journals voted it as the top album. Sixteen years later, her fifth studio album Miss Anthropocene, was released in 2020. Outside of the music industry, Grimes had a voice character in the 2020 online action-role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the popular music competition game series Alter Ego.
